L. Karen Griswold, Licensed Professional Counselor

4500 Kruse Way Suite 100

Lake Oswego, OR 97035

Philosophy and approach to counseling: My approach in working with clients focuses on creating a therapeutic relationship that facilitates positive change in her or his sense of self.  This supports empowering clients to affect positive change in his or her relationships and life circumstances. The client is encouraged in awareness of the self as a physical, emotional and spiritual being. In exploring and evaluating the challenges faced by the client, I attempt to help her or him gain understanding regarding the dynamics present in current primary relationships, including spouse, children, friends, community and/or employers. I also help the client explore his or her early family relationships in order to gain awareness of possible disturbances and patterns in these relationships that may affect current relationships.

Formal education and training: I hold a Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Counseling from George Fox University.  Major coursework included: Human Growth and Development, Personality and Counseling Theories, Group Dynamics, Career Development, Research and Evaluation and Psychopathology.

As a Licensee of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (Oregon #2088), I will abide by its Code of Ethics.  To maintain my license I am required to participate in annual continuing education, attending classes that address subjects relevant to my profession. Even though I am licensed, in order to provide the highest quality of care possible, as part of my continuing education, I have elected to seek ongoing supervision with Dr. David Wenzel.

Fees: $125.00 per session.  Fees for additional services and testing will be discussed as needed.
